How To: Override Employee Tax Amounts in Payroll
To manually override the employee's calculated taxes on an open pay statement:
Under Utilities on the Edit Pay Statement view, select Tax Overrides
Select the tax to override by checking the OVERRIDE box and enter the amount to withhold
Click Apply Changes to return to the pay statement. Click Save to see updated tax amounts on the check Preview.
**Tax Overrides should only be performed at the employee's request and with the understanding that state and federal tax withholding will be reconciled when their personal return is filed and could result in an unexpected balance owed**
For ongoing changes to withholding calculations, employees should complete a new W4 federal or state withholding form.
