Employee Missouri Probationary Code

Employee Missouri Probationary Code

According to the Missouri Department of Laboran "individual who performed services for an employer for 28 consecutive calendar days or less, is considered a probationary employee for UI purposes, regardless of employer’s company policy. These wages are reportable and taxable."

When filing the Quarterly Wage and Contribution Report, "enter the beginning and ending dates of employment in the appropriate column and row where the worker's name and wage amount are listed. If these dates are not provided, the individual’s wages will not be considered probationary.  Reimbursable and Contributing employers are charged differently when an individual receives unemployment benefits. Reimbursable employers shall be liable for all benefit payments. Contributing employers will not be charged for individuals properly indicated as probationary."

Employees should be designated with a Yes or No flag to indicate their probationary status.  To set up an employees in the UKG system with a Missouri Probationary Code of either Y (Yes) or N (No), navigate to the employees Payroll Tab / Tax Information (1).  Click on the State selection (2).  Under Missouri, select the Action menu and View Tax Jurisdiction (3).
